Radical Road Trip - Raising Consciousness for the Need to Create a Better World.
Celebrate Equality And Diversity

Radical Road Trip

Welcome to the Radical Road Trip.

=============================================

THE RADICAL ROAD TRIP MISSION:

Visiting Underserved Communities on a Face-to-Face Basis and Making Radical Connections.

“Connecting the radical groups in our own communities and the goal of establishing not just a Radical Road Trip, but a live, talking, interactive Radical National Network.”

There are two Radical Road Trips.

One Radical Road Trip will take place in August 2008 and one Radical Road Trip will take place in August 2009.

Details about the Radical Road Trip 2008:

Radical Road Trip 2008 will have people from all over the world independently travel to the Republican National Convention (RNC) protests in Minneapolis that last from Sept 1st-4th, 2008. We'll create documentary about the event. We invite people to send us video from all over the world of their travels to the RNC so that we can use clips of it in the docmentary.

Mail video clips of your travel on DV Tape or DVD to: Multicultural Outreach Media, P.O. Box 6086, Olympia, WA 98507. Or email

Video Specifications from our Video Editor: "video submissions are usually nicer to receive on DV tape, but DVDs are fine as far as quality goes usually, but also usually take a little more time to take and put into something else. (but not a big problem) as for resolution size, standard good quality def. is 720 x 480."

All funds raised by the Radical Road Trip final movie will help fund the Radical Road Trip 2009 project.

The Radical Road Trip Fundraiser party August 7th, 2008 at Fertile Ground at 6:30pm in Olympia, Washington will include Anna, Adhamh Roland and Mark Gunnery and from the Nationwide travelling Riotfolk!

The Radical Road Trip Fundraiser party August 14th, 2008 at the Red and Black Café in Portland, Oregon at 7pm will include Brenna Sahatjian from the Nationwide travelling Riotfolk!

Details about the Radical Road Trip 2009:

How will we travel to San Francisco on the Road Trip?

The Radical Road Trip 2009 journey welcome people to travel with us down the West Coast to underserved communities. We are going to travel on a road trip for 4-7 days to raise consciousness for the need to create a better world! A DIY documentary will be placed online for free which will share the road trip with others worldwide.

The Radical Road Trip Collective has worked hard to make sure this event is open to everyone regardless of finances. We made reservations with a Bio-diesel Charter Service and they said it would cost $150 per passenger.

And guess what?

That includes all the gas! They'll give us a gas card. It has 12 seats plus the driver seat.

That price also includes giving people the option of a 4 day radical road trip (Aug 14th, 2009-Aug 17th, 2009 one-way from Portland to San Fran) or a roundtrip road trip (Aug 14th, 2009-August 22nd, 2009 from Portland, Oregon to San Fran and then leave San Fran on August 19th, 2009 to return to Portland Oregon on August 22nd, 2009)!

**RSVP for the Roadtrip by the end of February 2009 so we can set up transportation!! No money or registration fees are required to RSVP if you do so by the end of February. Otherwise, you are welcome to organize your own travel arrangements.

THE RADICAL ROAD TRIP GOAL:

Our goal for the trip is to spread community and solidarity and to link with other radical groups (and just people period) across the country in the most human way possible--by coming to them and meeting face to face. Seems like it would be good for us to map out as much as possible people and organizations we would specifically like to meet up with; maybe organize some public engagements in advance or take part in some of their local work. We could tap into our respective networks for this. We could also do some research and find other organizations we might not necessarily have any personal connections to, but want to link up with anyway—so we could find out where headquarters are located, stop by some offices, and see what’s up (other publishing orgs, environmental groups, etc.). The main point behind all of this (or at least an equally important purpose to whatever else is decided upon) is to capture everything documentary-style in order to celebrate the extensive, rarely-adequately-publicized, yet growing radical networks that exist around the country, the amount of people working for change, and some of the work that’s being done.
